Lloyd has written an extensive essay to accompany this exhibition. The essay is titled ‘Portraiture Unraveled’ and is attached to this email as a pdf file. The essay is attempting to examine reasons for why artists paint themselves and other people. The exhibition will have artwork that corresponds to portraiture and tackle issues of identity through irony, wit, gender, melancholy, and sexual orientation.
