The gallery staff are tremendously proud to announce the winner of the 2010 ‘Contemporary art for Christmas 2010 award’.
The votes were counted and it was a very close call between two artists:
Lou Reade and Jayne Smith.
Both artists offered varied styles of work.
Jayne’s printmaking combines scenes of dreamscape’s with the sublime, while Lou’s paintings, oil pastels with inks of a colourful depiction of San Francisco, were alternately what won the crowd over.

“I am very thankful to receive the winning votes from the gallery visitors, when there is so much other great work to choose from, also. The prize money will go towards art materials that will help further my current ideas for future paintings” - Lou Reade.
